Logistics

Logistics software development

Fleet, warehouse and supply-chain systems that track every shipment, cut manual planning and keep customers informed.

01Logistics

Logistics software with visibility from dock to door

Logistics software has to describe a moving operation with incomplete information. A driver may lose connectivity, a carrier may send an update late and a warehouse may use a different reference for the same shipment. The product needs a clear model of orders, loads, stops and events before it can present a useful live map. We start with the operational decisions the dispatch and warehouse teams need to make.

A tracking portal, a driver app and a planning tool serve different users but must agree on the shipment's state. We identify which events are authoritative, which are estimates and which need confirmation. That distinction matters when an ETA changes or a delivery record arrives after the vehicle has moved on. The first release should support a complete operating workflow, including exceptions, rather than showing locations without explaining what they mean.

02Challenges

What makes Logistics software hard

  • 01

    Visibility gaps

Shipments go dark between pickup and delivery.

  • 02

    Manual planning

Routes and loads planned in spreadsheets every morning.

  • 03

    Paperwork

Bills of lading, proofs of delivery and customs forms keyed by hand.

  • 04

    Disconnected partners

Carriers, warehouses and customers on different systems.

03What we build

Logistics solutions we deliver

  • 01

    Fleet management

Vehicle tracking, maintenance and driver apps.

  • 02

    Warehouse systems

Receiving, picking, packing and inventory control.

  • 03

    Route optimisation

Daily routes planned in minutes against real constraints.

  • 04

    Shipment tracking portals

Live status and ETAs for customers and partners.

  • 05

04Considerations

Built in from the first sprint

The requirements we plan for on every project in this sector.

  • Telematics and IoT integrations
  • EDI and carrier APIs
  • Offline driver apps
  • Customs and trade documentation

Integrations in practice

  • 01

    Carriers, EDI and shipment events

Carrier APIs and EDI messages need mappings for identifiers, event types and timestamps. We agree how duplicated, late or out-of-order messages affect shipment status. An operator needs to see a rejected update and know who owns the correction. The integration is validated against the specific partners and message formats in scope, not a generic promise that every carrier speaks the same language.

  • 02

    Warehouse, inventory and transport

Receiving, picking, packing and dispatch create connected but different records. We define the handoff between warehouse and transport systems, including when an item becomes available, reserved or shipped. Reconciliation helps identify a movement recorded in one system but missing in another. Returns and damaged or partial shipments are included in the operating model when they are part of the service.

  • 03

    Driver devices, documents and telematics

A driver app needs a deliberate offline model for assignments, delivery evidence and status updates. Telematics and location records should include their source and age, rather than appearing equally current on a map. Document extraction can prepare data from delivery proofs or invoices, with review where the agreed risk requires it. Failed synchronization must remain visible after the device reconnects.

06Delivery decisions

How we verify the work

We test the operation through assignment, pickup, movement and delivery, including a missed event, a lost connection and a partial completion. Planning constraints come from your actual fleet and service model. A route that looks efficient on a map still needs to respect the agreed capacity, time and operational constraints. Those checks are reviewed with the people who will dispatch and operate the system.

The release plan defines partner access, alert ownership and how operators recover from an integration failure. Data migration includes shipment and inventory references that must remain traceable after cutover. Handover covers event mappings, offline synchronization and the procedures for investigating conflicting status reports. We describe the system's capabilities and acceptance evidence without promising an unmeasured reduction in delivery time or cost.

09FAQ

Frequently asked questions

View pricing guide
Can you integrate with our carriers?

Yes, through EDI, carrier APIs and aggregator platforms.

Do driver apps work offline?

Yes. Data syncs when the connection returns, so drivers aren't stuck in dead zones.

How do you handle late carrier updates?

We define event timestamps, identifiers and state transitions for each partner. A late update should not silently move a shipment backwards or overwrite a more authoritative event. Tests include duplicates and out-of-order messages, with reconciliation and an operator-visible exception route when records disagree.

Can the driver workflow continue offline?

Yes, for the actions agreed in scope. We define local storage, queued updates, attachment handling and conflict resolution before building the app. Tests cover interrupted work and reconnection so a driver can tell which actions are saved locally and which have reached the central system.

Can you connect our existing warehouse and transport tools?

We review the available APIs, EDI messages, exports and identifiers before scoping the connection. The plan identifies which system owns each record and how stock or shipment events are reconciled. Where an interface is limited, we explain the operational alternatives before committing to the build.

What determines logistics software cost and delivery time?

The operating workflow, partner interfaces, planning constraints, devices, offline behaviour and data migration drive the estimate. A tracking portal and a complete warehouse or dispatch platform are different scopes. We validate the difficult connection early and give a written proposal, with relevant product and integration ranges in the pricing guide.
